Topic tags/keywords: question redwood finishing garden bench

I’ve finished building a arbor bench for the back patio but I want to make sure I finish it well. I live in salt lake city, the bench will be exposed to the sun probably 5 or 6 hours a day. It will be outside uncovered during the winter and snow. The bench is made out of redwood. I spoke with people at woodcraft who suggest OneTime wood protector and I’m wondering if anyone has used this on something besides a deck. Is it going to be a good finish for this bench?

Anyone else have opinion?

Clint, does this finish provide a urethane type of glossy finish and if I reapply yearly do I have to sand down the previous application or do you just recoat?

Josh, it’s a penetrating oil finish with no shine. I use it on all the exposed wood at my place outside Albuquerque at 6300 feet.
