Ok here’s the deal guys and gals. I would like to discuss technology and applications that have been real time/money savers for us. This is a two part post. First post the current application that you use that you figure you couldn’t get along without. Second, post the application that you are thinking about adding to your arsenal. I will start:

First, I love my ability to deposit checks at home. Open your bank app, take a picture of the front and back, pick the account to deposit to and you’re done. I absolutely love it! Saves me trips to the bank and we all know that time is money.

Second, I’ve been thinking about buying a wifi SD card for my camera. The current leader (I think) is call Eye-Fi. Since I have started posting projects I have found that the process to take pictures, transfer them to my tablet and then upload them is time consuming. I remember a couple of years ago when they first came out I thought why would I need one of those when I can move my SD card from camera to computer or just pull a cable out of the drawer and transfer pix via USB. I’m starting to see the light now.

Thirdly, if you MUST brag about your cameras, tablets, phones please do but I don’t want this to turn into a flaming war about which brand is the best. The sole reason for this post is to let other LJs know which applications you are using and those that you are thinking about using/trying. Let’s help each other be more productive in our day to day lives. I bet there are some great ideas out there.

Make sure it will support an Ad Hoc network, not entirely sure it can connect directly to your tablet without a wireless router in between.

JimC, if I drive a convertible and have app ideas and you drive a convertible you must therefore have some app ideas. Does that make sense?
Grizz, I KNOW you have some app ideas. Share with us?

Rpalm, do you use this a lot? Is it on your tablet, laptop or phone. BTW, did you know there are digital levels for your phones and tablets at the app stores?

I understand you can get two way wifi sd cards now. Is that true? Does anyone own one? I would also like to hear your stories concerning wifi sd cards if you have them. Pat? Woodklutz?

DKV: Put the coffee down and step away from the caffeine! :-)

Personally, I’m still in the dark ages (no smart phone). But I couldn’t live without Garage Band on my iPad.

Charlie, I don’t have a smart phone either. However, I am into data usage and I love my tablet. I also use it in the shop for music. I like Live365 (a nominal monthly ad-free fee) and I have a huge choice of genres. All depends upon my mood. Speaking of caffeine, I type faster with lots of caffeine but also make more mistakes and use the backspace key alot. My little finger has the back space key zeroed in. BTW, with an ipad you are far from the dark ages. My mom lives in the dark ages. She still has problems with the tv remote and answering machine.

LOL, I have never heard that one Charlie. Believe me when I say I’m going to use it soon. My brother-law fits it to a T.
BTW, anyone know what this T thing is?

Charlie, I’m still laughing. We should have a nonshop discussion on “cutsie sayings and comebacks”. I had a boss who was from Texas that would come up with some of the most off the wall stuff. AJAT (Anyway, just a thought). I doubt if you can find AJAT on the web acronym list.

I was pretty close to getting an Eyefi card but decided against it since my new laptop has a built in SD card reader, and I like to have a few 8GB cards so I can swap out if I want to. That and an 8GB SD card can be bought for only $6.
