I am interested. I am trying to move to hand tools. I have a couple of ideas brewing – we will see what pans out.

Does a hand powered lathe qualify as a hand tool?

If Roy Underhill wouldn’t use it then no, it’s not allowed. You can only use your electricity to power your lights and your iPOD while making this one. :^)

Oh yeah, Also, A circular saw and power drill (not drill press) should qualify as a hand tool…. You use it in your Hand, its a handheld powertool AKA “Hand tool”.... A table saw/any huge stationary tool would be a stationary power tool… :-)

Yeah, if you have a tool that doesn’t require electricity go for it. Just think of the tools Roy would use for a particular task.

To keep people honest we’re asking for photos that capture key steps.

Also, You should say it must come from a solid/laminated piece of wood that has not been rough cut using a powertool…. You also should say that you cant use store bought kits…
Since you never said that… I hear that Home Depot has a free kid kit and they are making a toy…. I think i’ll grab one… Its free, and its made out of some Rubberwood or something.

@Alexandre – Store bought kits are not allowed. Just use common sense. The idea is to have some fun. Ok?
