Anybody check out Marc's (Woodwhisperer) live shop tour yesterday. I logged in as it was getting started, but got pulled away by a 2 year old who wanted to play the Elmo game on Daddy's computer. Yeah. . . that's my life! I've seen his shop during his "King and His Castle" podcast, but was curious about the live format and the Q&A session. What did everyone think?

I have never been a huge fan of the live format in the past. I wish I could have stayed logged in Sunday to see how it went. In the past, the technical issues seemed to always drag down the quality to the point it wasn't worth it. Marc seems to have a grasp on technology as well as some help. Hopefully, they'll work out the kinks that are sure to come. It is a great idea if it can be pulled off.

Hey Jeff. Worry not my friend. The kinks can and will be worked out. In fact, my regular live webcam is now live streaming video. So the process is working all the time. The major flaw with Sunday's attempt was the use of my lapelle microphone. That was simply a mistake on my part and is easily remedied.
So if the interest is there, I think I will put another live demonstration on the calendar. Should be fun!

Hey Marc,
I was not referring to your live show specifically. I was commenting on live feeds I have experienced in the past. I wasn't able to stay with your feed as my daughter dragged me away, so I'm ignorant as to how it went. Part of the reason I posted this thread. I look forward to catching the next session.
I can't wait to see all the shop tours that should pour in with the recent challenge. My only regret is that I started a major overhaul of my shop and am no where near completed. My parent's redid their entire kitchen and I scored all of their old wall and base cabinets as well as the countertop! I'm climbing over things currently. I believe it was you that said that you paused videos to get a look at other shops (King of His Castle). This should be a gold mine in that regard.
By the way, thanks for getting to my email in episode 5 of WoodTalkOnline.

I enjoyed the whole 2+ hours worth. Despite a few glitches, it was done very well and quite entertaining - and kudos to Nicole holding the camera for so long and Mom firing out the questions. I really enjoyed the interactions between Marc and us viewers from serious woodworking questions to making Marc hop around on one leg. Personal, informative, and great fun all around!

It was really nice to see this type of work. I like the live cam also. I think begining wood workers get a slanted view of what it takes to make things when they watch programs that do not show the actual amount of work it takes. They see Norm do things and miss the test cuts and setup time that goes into each of the steps that he takes. I hope that this emerging tech shows some of this ( that may bore some old timers to death), but is soo useful to new workers.
