Topic tags/keywords: humor

Ok I just realized I’m a stupid cr*p junkie here at LJ’s and if your honest you’ll admit it too.

Let me explain.

While I didn’t participate much in the off-topic discussions, coward, I did regularly check in. I checked in mostly to read the ignorant and often pathetic rants of the active participants,(no offense to anyone particular, but you know who you are). insert smiley face here…8)

I would read the BS and then go torment my wife over morning coffee with the latest he said, he said. My wife, I must say, is a tolerant women but she was about to go nutters on me big time.

So when Nathan’s Ruling came down, like many of you, I applauded it and I still do. But… I miss the BS, my wife doesn’t, more than I like to admit it.

As a cowardly lurker who didn’t add much to the discussions, I miss it. Like a dear in the headlights I couldn’t look away. Getting up in the morning to read if this guy thinks Evolution is bunk because his frog told him so or this guy said Romney is better than Obama because he has straighter hair or wether this guy got his come uppeance for saying he likes cheese with his whine made my day all the rosier.

LumberJocks is better now and while I like discussions of, sharpening my k-mart brand chisels, what is the best freakin hammer and I’m going to the caribean, it is kinda boring.

So I thought I’d start this off-topic thread and ask, Don’t ya miss it a little?

well since were being totally honest here bob, NO…....although the image of you telling your wife about the nonsense here is quite amusing , how many cups of coffee did it usually take…...i guess it comes down to this for me, when i came here to lumber jocks, i didn’t come for that type of thing, i came for the wood work at first, and then i started making friends…that is what i came here for…....and i am happy to say i still enjoy those things here…so maybe others will enjoy lumber jocks for what it really is, the more the merrier…...here is a piece of news from my camp, and i don’t find it boring at all…....i won a large piece of redwood burl from Greg dahl at Oregon burls and it came today…yep, and its gorgeous…....its almost 11 inches square and almost 3 inches thick…..and i cant wait to use it…but i must get it cut up into thin slices…but that is worth talking about….:))..lets see what else…...oh the bunions on my feet are getting better….....and…a really big chunk of a dead tree just fell to the ground, and my dog barked at it…...even looked up into the sky to see where it came from…...see how this news goes with your wife today…lol…....oh…i did see a picture of mitt Romney out buying his own groceries…...now that is pretty juicy…huh….grizz

Sounds like you have a full day going on.

Mine started out here reading the funnies. Then I went out back and fed the Koi. I noticed the wasps are particularly interested in the humming bird feeder this morning. Stared up at one of my backyard oaks noticing how this hot summer weather is making it drop it’s leaves already. Smootched the wife as she left for he job at the college. And then topped the morning here at the computer. I need a nap.

If your like me with all this excitment maybe we should slow down a little.

Nope. Still not missing it. The only thing that would make me miss it is if the conversations were civil and the debate was intellectual. Most of those threads were just screaming and yelling about incoherent “facts” tied together to form some semblance of an argument.

I hear enough of that in my conversations throughout the week that I don’t need the extras here.

well the wasps are hangin around the free meal huh, yea they do that here to..ive got to have some breakfast, and i might walk over and look at the chunk of tree that fell, but i wont invest any time there…no clean up for sure…i might let the red ants build a new home in there, then run over them with the lawn mower…haaaaa, fire ants flying everywhere…as long as they dont land on me, that would be bad news…....i think ill mill up some spalted oak i have…its easy work and will be the start of another box, i might incorporate some of the new burl into the top…well see…..then a nap might happen….the ole back is not doing well, my last shot wore off last week, and the bright reminder of the pain it was hiding is back…so i must do other things for a bit…..but …i still have something up my sleeve….so dont count me out yet…...i hope my typing here didnt wake you up…

Wow Grizz this is making us sound like a couple of old women, no offense to the women folk. Although we have been known to wear a dress.

here is an idea, if things get really really bad…we could talk about our spam email…i never look at the spam folder , but i could…....there has to be something in there that would stimulate some good talk…we will just have it there for a back up, maybe we could do a study on the effects of Geritol or how eating dairy messes with my digestive track…remember we have to keep our conversations loose…...LOL…now that was good…come on…you liked it….:)))

Chainsaw mill vs Bandsaw?

How long should you air dry wood? Is it better than a kiln?

Which workbench is the best?

Which wood makes the best baseball bats?

Ford vs Chevy?

Cherry wood vs Alder

Blue Grass vs Estwing

Lowes vs Home Depot
blahblahblah

I guess I’m so wood working jaded, been there got the T shirt, that I don’t read many of the post anymore. Not that I don’t like a rowdy discussion about gassing the air out of your finish cans.

Mostly I check the pics and hope to find something I haven’t thought of yet.

Yep.
I miss it, for 2 reasons…
  1. Like car crashes, I like to look. The difference is that I never do look at car crashes. With some of those OT topics it was almost like being allowed to look at car crashes.
  2. It reminded me how jolly happy I am not to live in America – not just because of the craziness and the crazies, but because a lot of those crazies seem to have guns, a lot of ammunition, and know how to shoot them. Some of them appear to be deaf too.
  3. I actually did learn stuff from some of those threads, not only about how quite a lot of people (mostly American, it must be said) thought, but actual genuine facts about things (there were a few genuine facts in there, honest) – either because a fact was presented, or something led me to do my own research to learn things.
