Figured this was the best place to post a rant, not at anyone in particular, just something that has happend quite a number of time here. It’s like this I just about get a new project complete, something that I want to post and show off, and just when I’m ready to post one or two other LJs post the same type of project. Then it makes me feel like I’m some kind of copy cat show off. I know post it anyways but it’s just the way I feel. -- See pictures on Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/44216106@N07/ And visit my Facebook page - facebook.com/MTEnterprises |

That only bothers me when the other projects are obviously better than mine. :-) -- Charlie M. "Woodworking - patience = firewood" |

There are few original and or unique projects here. As for looking better, there will always be someone who does it better and some less so. The point is how does it measure to your talents and if your proud of it then post it. I built a bottle cap birdhouse because I saw it posted here and I liked it. When I finished it I posted it here and gave homage to the guy I copied it from. I like what I did and feel in no way less proud that it’s not an original piece of work here. It is an original piece of work on this side of the screen and that’s enough. -- ~Just A Guy With A Hammer~ |

Probably a bit of the ‘new car’ phenomenon; you buy a new car and suddenly you start noticing all the other identical cars on the road. Likely there are often projects of the type you making, you just start noticing them more. -- John |

Mike, you can stop that. All ya need to do is spend the next 5 years building a scroll sawn replica of an aircraft carrier. NOBODY will copy that. :) -- bill@magraphics.us |

Boy am I glad I’m not the only one who has had this happen. Now what is the cause? Is it that we get the same idea at the same time and all finish at the same time? Maybe the LJ site is programming all of us with subliminal messages! Does a hat of tin or aluminum provide better protection? -- I was walking down the street, something caught my eye, and dragged it 15 feet. |

If you have ever watched any of Tom Hintz’s videos on Youtube he has viewers that email him and accuse him of being able to monitor their actions through the internet and their PCs. Maybe those LJs that post right prior to you are monitoring what you are doing and then rush to do it ahead of you. Turn off your PC/laptop/tablet/phone and they won’t know what you are doing. You’ll catch them off guard and and be able to post first. -- I would drink a river of the kool aid before I took the smallest sip of the tea... |

Mike, if you post something that is so original, that no other LJ has ever even thought to build one, even then probably within a week at least 2-3 others will post their versions. -- Paul, Tennessee, http://www.tsunamiguitars.com |

I still think we’re all being spyed on. It may sound a little paranoid but now that the admins have taken the site back from the unruly crowds they may be watching us through the internet via the cameras on our devices. If they can do it then any of the LJs can do it. I think a couple of LJs are selecting one or two other LJs to watch and then copying the work they are doing and posting before they have a chance to. I think that’s the most probable explanation. Peace -- I would drink a river of the kool aid before I took the smallest sip of the tea... |
