Topic tags/keywords: question

I have an opportunity to purchase a Powermatic 3520 lathe for $1,500.

Does anyone think this is a good deal?

Thank you…

I own one, and to be honest, if it comes with a decent chuck, and runs fine, that seems like a steal. I paid about $3200 for mine in 2002, and it has been a horse. I have a lot of attachments now, but overall, even with being moved twice, it has been a great lathe. The only issue is you don’t get the RPM readout, you get a frequency readout with my older unit, and the readout is on the backside where you can’t see it.
I think they moved it to the front on later models.
If you are into lathing, that is a great deal for a great lathe.

If everything is in good working order this is a very good price. I only have a 12” dia. Delta lathe but was looking for a good used Powermatic lathe. I couldn’t find anyting belowe $2500 at the time. Another consideration is the voltage. Does this lathe require 220v? May need to run a new circuit if you don’t have 220v outlet. But, I think it would be worth it for that price.
