Sylvain has asked that I bring to your attention the fact that he is unable to start a new forum post. This is what he said on the Workbench Smackdown thread.

31 days ago I tried to start a forum. For an unknow reason it didn’t work.
I tried to send 2 mail to Martin Sojka but apparently he does not receive it either. I did not receive any answer while i believe my mails were very polite.
I can not ask for help on the forum
lumberjock.com site feedback because I am denied the possibility to start any forum. If I try I receive the message :
You cannot post a new topic until your first post has been reviewed and approved. Would one of you please contact the site administrator on my behalf.
Otherwise I would have to try to register under a new name which I don’t think is a good idea.

Please would someone look into why this is the case and let Sylvain know directly.

Many thanks,

Andy

Sylvain’s issue is an irregularity I think, since the user has
made a significant number of posts.

I’m not sure of what the settings are currently for the
lumberjocks forum software, but I seem to recall that at
one time you had to post 10 replies to existing threads
before you automatically got permission to start threads.

This is not uncommon with forums. It prevents spammers
from deluging the forums with links.

When I joined which was fairly recently, I made a forum post which went thru approval before being actually posted to the site. After that it said that I could start new threads, post comments, etc. at will.

Unfortunately, I can’t think of any direct advice regarding Sylvain’s problem, wish you and him the best of luck.

Andy,
Your friend had just join. Right?
I do recall what Ben had said.
When I join and posted, it did have to go through some kind of aproval process.
I didn’t paid much attention, but I do recall recieving a meesage advising me I can start posting (without approval).

hhhopks – No he has been on LJs for 377 days and has made around 250 posts, so I don’t know what is going on.

Andy,
Many thanks for posting this for me.

I have to add that the forum I tried to post 31 days ago has disapeared in the cyberspace and I would have to write it completely again.

Presently i am still blocked.

Now that I think of it, I wonder how the text of a disapeared forum can be reviewed and approved?

Sylvain has always been a respectful person who has contributed much to woodworking discussions here.

I want to thank you all for your support and your very kind words.

Ms Debbie has sent me a message 10 hours ago saying tht she will look at the problem.

I hope she will succeed to unlock my ability to post forum.

Just piggy backing on here because I am experiencing similar issues.

I have tried to post two topics now. One was on some lumber I ordered recently and the condition it was in and just now I am trying to post one on problems I am having centering my router’s sub base.

Any help alerting the admin’s would be greatly appreciated!

I have a similar problem. I’ve been getting “You cannot post a new topic until your first post has been reviewed and approved.” for about 9 months now. Since there is no way to report the problem when you can’t post….
