I thought this may interest all of you Lumberjocks.

I just Googled Dick Cain, carver, & I was amazed at how many times my name showed up.

My Clydesdale carving, was at the top of the page

Everyone should try this with their own name.

You’ll be surprised.

Dick, at least 10k of those should be one of my own web sites (I run a 10 year old multi-contributor “blog” that has well over 11k pages, each of which should have an “email Dan Lyke with issues” at the bottom). But Google doesn’t seem to index all of ‘em, so maybe not.

The fun ones are things like my entry at IMDB, or being quoted in the famed Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing: Chapter 5: Learn to Program HTML in 21 Minutes. But that’s all a little bit nerdly, clearly I need to do something to regain my former prominence on the web.

Ahh. I’ve known of two or three other “Dan Lyke”s, this is the first time I’ve actually found one on the web that isn't me. So I’m actually kind of disappointed that my prominence on the web is fading a bit.

miles125, my presidential aspirations disappeared somewhere in high school. Of course I’d rather be in a position of real power anyway…

One person told me when he Googled Rikon bandsaw review,

my LJ review was on the top of the page.

He ended up joining Lumberjocks, & also bought an Rikon.

LOL…makke sure you wrap quotation marks around your name. If I just put in Ryan Shervill I get thousands of hits….any site that has the name Ryan in it will generate a hit.
If I put in “Ryan Shervill” the hits drop to about 12 pages.

I did just learn I have relatives in the UK though :)

I found out there are John Odenheimers all through U.S. history. Each page has some mention of me and my work though. I can’t find any mention of the porn movie I made, “Johnny Does Truckee”.

ALSO … click on “images” at the top. I was able to see some of my work.

I only get two hits when I put my name in quotes (and they both go to the same page!). I have a pretty unique name, tho… lol.

By the way, I was the guy that Dick was talking about with the Rikon review. When I searched on it, LJ’s was the #1 hit on Google. I liked the people and the site so much that I joined, then later bought the saw!.... Thanks again, Dick!

You guys and gals sure get me into these things sometimes. LOL!!! I don’t know what I would do without ya! Now I Googled my name with Quotation marks and I am still dead but I am a well known Photographer and a Dr. AND a Porn Star! But if there is anyone here that is mourning my death, you can buy a I love Allison White t-Shirt on the first page of my googled name page (under my demise). Just let me in on it would ya? We might be able to make buck! And I do mean a dollar, but it would probably come from my dear old dad!
But I gotto go now I have patients to see ( or I mean do) in my new porn movie I am also directing due to my well known photography skills.
Just thinking about all that work while dead is making me tired. I think I will just go to my shop and finish off a grasshopper while I do my alligator!
PEACE!!! and thanks for the smiles.
