Calif’s biggest problem?

An idiot for a governor.
Over 5,000,000 illegal aliens.
Too many businesses leaving the state.
Too many senseless environmental regulations.
Over-taxed by the state, these fools in office can’t control their spending & recently found $20 (+) million. ops.

Joe, I think you’re right. Calif will be bankrupt by this time next year.
Fortunately, I’m moving out of state.

^PineChopper said it all. I swore California off over 10 years ago, haven’t stepped foot there since. And trust me, that policy has cost me big. California is a prime location for conferences that I have to attend. I end up having to cobble a conference together in other States at great expense to myself. With my luck, I’d get shot there by one of those dirty gun owners, lol.

It’s not the Governor… He’s nothing but a Pawn… The Big Boss is the Unions!

The Unions have Calif. cornered where they control EVERYTHING that is happening!

If the State declared bankruptcy, the Unions could be knocked down to size or REMOVED completely which would be a HUGE step to survival… Existing & future Salaries, wages, benefits, & pensions would have to be redefined into reality and be indexed to actual Total Income (not estimated) so they could go Down as well as UP; not run-a-way cost increases.

That would get us being able to exist…

Immigration: Undocumented = Illegal… handle it accordingly… no BS…
Want to migrate to the USA? Do it legally! Learn English!
English to be our language… Learn & use it!
Ballots, etc. etc. are to be in English… We would save Forests not just a few trees!
That would remove the strain on Welfare & Medical benefits that are currently being paid (for some illegal reason).

This is a real can of worms…

Hello Joe,
Well, since my last post, I’ve moved to Wyoming. I’ve had it with California. That state will be bankrupt soon. There are too many illegal aliens who ARE taking jobs that American citizens should have.
The once great Golden State is NO MORE.

What are these “states” going to do when the illegals completely take over and there isn’t anyone left but them?
Our politicians need to get their heads out of the …..sand….and start addressing this “problem” seriously. Joe: I agree with all you say except the “Unions”. Without the unions we might as well be Chinese as far as workers go. I agree some of them have gotten carried away but all unions are not like that. We could beat the pros and cons of unions to death but suffice to say they are a necessity.

I think it is primarily the public sector unions that are the cause of the downfall.

Joe,
After all, we are a UNION of States. The United States. That mere fact cannot be ignored and it is that UNION that is our greatest strength. This is a fact, and not just my opinion.

Unions: Howie & HorizMike…
Unions in the Private Sector is fine unless they literally take-over & force a company into bankruptcy… then That is another story to solve…

I am talking about Unions within the Government to control the Government!

We have States that have united to form the United States… the citizens vote to control their cities, counties, States, and the Federal Governments. That is a fact… or should be a fact… The individual people are supposed to be controlling what they are voting for.

BUT... to have a Private Sector Type Union within a Government, who tends to rob (via strikes) the government (people) from what they voted for, replacing it with what the Union wants, is BAD and should not be allowed.

California is the perfect example of what I am talking about. Labor Unions for all of the various labor types (teachers, general clerical, janitors, management positions, specialized positions, etc. etc. etc. to infinity) have gotten to the point where a regular public Election is meaningless accomplishing very little BECAUSE, when the rubber hits the road, it’s the Unions that control EVERYTHING that’s going on whether the general Public likes it or not!

I remember when Swartznegger ran for Governor… He was a gung-ho red-blooded American that was going to clean-up the State to get it working good again… He was going to do everything that had to be (and still wants to be) done to fix the State. People, us Little People, voted for him because we wanted the State fixed!

Shortly after he was in office when we expected to hear how some of the things he tackled first were coming along, he finally held a Press Conference and told us a bunch of crap that we did not want to hear!

Why?!

This is my guess as to what happened… The powerful VERY Powerful Union Bosses met with Arnold and, in so many words, said:

“Look sonny, in case you didn’t know it, WE run this State and you or no one else is going to do it! What we say here is what happens and you have no say in it at all… Get that? You have NO SAY in what we want to do. When we want more money for Salaries, Wages, and Pensions, we will get it because we are running this State and what we say is the way it’s going to happen… Got That?! So, Sonny, get off your high horse and do what we tell you to do… OK? Sonny, do you understand who butters your bread now?!”

... and poor Arnold, who just had his tail whipped & neatly tucked between his legs, meekly said

“Yes Sir, I now understand how things are done… what do you want me to do now?”.

That is my guess as to what happened to Arnold to make him change his mind so quickly and start doing things that he said he was completely against!

The vote of the People was useless and did no good whatsoever…

WHY?

The Unions are powerful enough to literally control the State… This should NOT be allowed to happen!

Unions should NOT be allowed to form within a Government, who’s duty it is to Govern & Control which is supposed to be controlled by the People’s vote. Unions should NOT be allowed within Governments to force Governments to conform with Union Demands.

Now, you say... “But what about fair labor practices and rates? Who is going to make sure we are not taken advantage of?”

My answer to that:
There shall be a Department of Labor within the Government that establishes all of the Standard Practices, Rules & Regulations of employment which must have been Voted upon by the voting Public. The Voting Public must control this Dept.

That is my point…

Now that you know what roles the Unions play within California, to make it so bad, how would YOU solve the problem?

Well maybe when California falls off in the ocean it will all take care of itself.
While I cannot confirm or deny the “good old boy” talks (I can only suspect they go on even in the federal government) I still think unions (wherever they are) have a place. The shakedowns of the 40’,50’s and 60’s are gone.
Without unions you would have no building codes, electrical codes, pressure piping codes, boiler codes and on and on. The unions forced these issues and have made the workplace and the envoirment safer for everyone.

Howie,

I agree with you BUT ONLY in the Private sector…

In the Public / Government sector, they are out of place and they are NOT needed… Governments should NOT be able to be held hostage with a Union Strike.

I remember when I lived in Ohio the PERS (public employees retirement) built a new office building. While they were showing it off a reporter asked about the $300,000. art work that adorned the hallway. The guy commented not to worry about it they would take care of the money. He got fired the next day.

LOL… Yep, he knew how the bread was going to get buttered!

It should be the PUBLIC voters, by ballot, to determine how their employees should work, be treated, be paid, be retired, be fired, etc.
... and don’t forget, the employees are part of the public who can vote for themselves…

Now, if you have a city that hires most of the employees in THE city, it would almost be like it is now, except if the City went broke, it would be their fault for voting it that way… LOL
