What is your opinion of exterior shutters ? We are making a survey about what people think about this product.
Do you have exterior shutters ?
Are you thinking of putting on your windows exterior shutters ?
Any opinion is good.
Thanks for your time

I like them, my wife doesn’t
No
No

Shutters have had their place – before screens or when the screens covered half the window. With the newer windows with non-opening screens, they are just decoration.

David they are not just for decoration , in the summer they can keep the house cool , and in the winter you wont lose temperature , and reduce the cost of your living.
But anyway thank you all for your opinion. I’m waiting for other to express there opinions also.
Cheers

I can the functional side for storm-battered areas where the shutters will help prevent window breakage but other that that it all depends on the style of the building as to whether or not they look good.

TorqNut , yes they are very good for protecting the windows from storms and stuff like that but also , from thives. It’s very hard to break in a house thru the windows if they have exterior shutters

No other opinion please…?
Sounds like your purpose is to sell such items.

But as to your question, the answer is dependant on one’s region. Shutters have no purpose on a home here in Tulsa except for decoration. I have built many, many sets from louvered to panel, all are decorative.

They are much appreciated here for the architectural detail they offer and bring me a nice paycheck to build but hardly of functional need.

If your talking security, for a business, I hardly see roll ups as shutters.

Yes i can agree with you here , depends on the region. For example in Barcelona i don’t know if you see a flat or a house without shutters…
