Just curious if anyone has any experience with this new saw from Ridgid?

Has some nice features, went and looked at it at the BORG and it seems pretty solid with minimum blade deflection when full extended.

Thx

I haven’t really given the new Ridgid slider much of a once over yet but I’m curious about your “minimym blade deflection” statement. I assume you’re talking about the sliding mechanism. If so, any deflection at all would be a deal killer for me. Save yourself a few hundred dollars and buy a 10” Harbor Freight slider if a sloppy sliding mechanism won’t affect the type of work you intend to use the saw for.

If you fully extend any miter saw and than apply pressure to left or right on the trigger handle it will have some amount of flex in the mechanism. That is what I mean by deflection. Yes, even the mighty Kapex will flex when you put some pressure on the mechanism when fully extended. If you go to the Dewalt video comparing the DWS780 to the new Bosch GCM12SD that is one of the tests they show in the video. Now of course we all try not to provide any pressure deflecting the blade but if you do it on purpose you can see how easy or not easy it is to do. Not exactly a scientific approach but it provides some evidence.

Looks good from here. I have the 12 ”. Only thing I don’t like is that the laser only comes on when the motor is running. My old saw would let me line up a cut with the laser before starting the saw.
PS – I’m not happy with Ridgid customer support….
