Yes, it would be a good thing to have. Even though I can usually spell, I can not always type it right.

haha. I see Giz. It seems like browsers are slowly adding spellcheckers, e.g. Firefox has built-in one. But I will consider adding one after researching more about its implementation. Thanks.

—-also, if you are using FireFox there is a spell checker included in the newest release!

For longer writing such as when I blog, I use www.blogdesk.org which is good for saving posts and also includes a spell checker.

And then best of all is www.openoffice.org. which gives me graphics, writer and HTML plus much more and also includes a spell checker.

All of these are free downloads and will continue to keep you going problem free, however I still would suggest starting with FireFox; http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/”>www.mozilla.com/en-US/”>http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/

David, I use Safari also and it has a spell checker under the “edit” menu pulldown. At least my version does.

Amen, I feel dumb when I reread a post and notice that I made a stupid errors or omissions. I could always type the post in Word and copy and paste it. I’m a little lazy, though! I’ll have to check out Dick’s link.

Dick, I just now got around to following your link to the IE Spell checker. I downloaded it via CNET. It’s the perfect utility for forums, emails, and blog type entries. If anyone is looking for a free IE spellchecker, this one does the trick. Follow Dick’s link above.

I’d suggest switching to Firefox as the dictionary/spell checker built into the browser is quite good. Best of all, it works on any site you go to.

I switched to Firefox awhile back and I didn’t even realize that there was a spell checker in it. I guess I just figured that places like this had the spellchecker…never thought about it being in firefox. I would never go back to MS internet explorer after Firefox. -SST

Yes, I normally use FF. (But I use IE when I want to view the videos, don’t ask me why.)

What I usually do is post, and then review my copy for spelling errors that the spell checker will not find like “thyme” or “would working”. If I find one, I use the edit button and then repost.

BTW, I would not recommend downloading updates to your xp or vista with FF. :-)

Funny Giz, yeah lots of us knead spell checker. I tend to catch at least one tpyo after posting, so the 60 minute timers been a big help. Maybe a grammer check or an intuitive homophone checker would be a good one?

I bounce between safari and firefox. I like both, but for different reasons. I think Safari looks better, but sometimes Firefox functions better. Camino is almost a perfect hybrid – if only it handles RSS links like Safari I’d be golden – Well, almost golden. Sometimes if I check from work (and I’m not saying I do) Camino will freeze when posting, usually a refresh takes care of it, but it happens often enough to be annoying. Safari doesn’t do it on the same network…

I like Safari better as well—but the toolbar didn’t load for Safari.
But… video downloads (ex. woodworking channel) won’t view with firefox on my Mac but they will with Safari – I probably just have to “check” some box but it’s easier just to open up Safari

I use google toolbar and it has a spell checker built into it. It’s not interactive, you have to click to say check spelling.
