I was driving down a state road in upstate NY, going about 60, and focused on the road, when the wife said that we just passed a yard sale, and she could see some blue and yellow tools on the lawn. A quick U turn later, and we were pulling into the driveway. Well, my mouth went dry when I saw what he had…but I couldn’t let him know that.
I saunter over slowly, and look at his tools…trying to look nonchalant. I start picking up tools, and putting them off to the side. The owner comes over, and we chat about why he’s selling. He quit contracting, and is moving to Arizona to become a building inspector…don’t want to make sawdust anymore…and I’m glad he made that decision.
Makita circular saw with extra blades
Milwaukee heavy duty sawzall, with lots of unused blades
Dewalt 10” compound miter saw, with 2 good extra blades (but no dustbag)
Craftsman router in a good tool bag…a good old router, and one of those box sets of 30 router bits
A couple of good 4’ levels
and some miscellaneous items

Everything was in good condition…$180
I love yard sales.

She’s a good wife. She knows how I love tools, and encourages me to buy what I want/need.
Of course, I make a living with my tools…and I build her anything that she wants, so it behooves her to support my tool purchases.

I forgot to mention I got some clamps :-)
3 heavy duty 24” Jorgensens
2 heavy duty 12” Irwin speed clamps

I felt bad taking away his tools…so bad that I didn’t even try to bargain with him.
I paid his asking price.

I bit the bullet and bought a Super Sawzall new years back and paid about what you did for the total haul…

I infrequently use it… but when I do, it’s a must have tool for the job….

When I slap a 16” demo blade in there I look like some kind of sadistic warrior inflicting death and destruction about the realm…. just poit to where you want the holes :^)

your only mistake was not stopping at the first place you saw that sold lottery tickets…it was your lucky day…
