I am extremely excited as I am getting ready to check into buying a 5hp table saw. I found it on CL and as many of you know a real diamond in the ruff can be had at great prices. So after landing this “soon to be center piece” of our shop I will be submitting a CL gloat posting.

Anybody interested in checking out my awesome find go to the CL link below. And to those from San Antonio, don’t be trying to buy the Table Saw since I found it first. I can see some fine woodworking in my future with a true beast of a table saw.

Now there’s a saw that would definitely cut thru a wiener.

To each their own. I actually came across that same CL listing myself earlier today and it made me think of an old episode of the Waltons

Be careful the kickback from that thing will put you into another timezone.

No worries, I am pretty sure I would upgrade the fence. Since we build kitchen cabinets for a living, my plan is to begin cutting about 10 sheets at one time. Just stack em up and shove em thru :)

That looks like that sinister saw that sliced open Johnny Cash’s brother in “Walk the Line”.

Yes your right!

I’m thinking the saw is some sort of saw mill type saw for cutting logs. Still looks scary to me.

A friend of mine has a property that’s a museum since her
family was in the oil well business starting 100 years ago
or so. They have a saw kind of like that and it’s set up
for ripping and the blade is smaller, maybe 20” and it pokes
up through a long wooden bench. I don’t recall a fence…
I think they might have freehanded the cuts.

With my father, I’ve spent many hours cutting fire wood on a very similar device. Dangerous?....You bet!

But ours, mounted on an old Model A Ford, would do some serious fire wood cutting.

I can still hear the ‘Ring’ of that blade, eating it way thru anything sent to it..

Thanks for the Memories!

That saw is for cutting firewood. That bench/shelf on the side pivots. You put log on it and tilt towards the blade chopping the part sticking to the right of the arched guard.

Cool, thought most would get a smile out of this post, especially since most like me love wood cutting saws..
