very large chisel

I found this chisel at a old country store in the basment ,it is 4 foot long open and 3 foot closed.The blade is 11 inches long and 2 inches wide and is a socket style.the back slides on a rod back and forth, there are no makings to be found on any part. i just am wondering what it would be used for or who would have made i

it’s a slick, usually used for building log cabins

I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like a “slick” for timber framing to me.

Looks like a timber framing chisel that someone added a slide hammer to.
