Matthew took it upon him self today to compose a letter to the Town Council of our town, requesting a skate park to be put in place for our youth. He did this on his own while I was at work. He walked to the library across the street from our home as we do not own a printer and composed the letter then hand delivered it to the town hall. The lady at the front desk told him “You should be very proud of yourself, we will be sure to pass it on.”—I thought this was worth sharing. If I can get my hands on the letter, I will post it.

Thats great. In todays world where most young people communicate by electronics, its refreshing to know some kids still have the ambition to do something that requires face to face communications. I bet you are proud of him for his effort. Wish him good luck with the project for me.

Don’t be suprised if he grows up to become president (or king, emperor, etc). He’s a sharp kid with an amazing grasp for his age. You have done well raising him (must have a great mom).

Stand proud, Matthew. In my youth, I was an avid skateboarder. BIG into it. I was even sponsored by a couple of companies. The idea of a community skatepark was only a dream back then. I think providing kids a place to ride is an enormous asset to a community and I hope Matthew gets his wish. You want the neighborhood kids smoking pot and spraypainting stuff; or getting exercise at the park. No brainer.

Very kind everyone. Thanks for the nice words. —Bertha, I will pass on to Matthew that a fellow lumberjock was a sponsored skateboarder.
