Hi Fellahs – Has anyone any experience, good or bad on the Jet AFS – 500 air filter. It certainly has the capacity for the size of my shop. Just wondering if it was worthy of its price tag. Many Thanks. David -- No one plans to fail, they just, just fail to plan |

It is a good investment, I had one then my shop got a little bigger and moved to the 1000 and now shop to big for any of them. They did a nice job filtering the air and I only really noticed it when I did a bunch of Santo Mahogany and after I cut up a few boards I looked at the filter and it was RED. I just bought the cheaper filters at HD and changed them more often. What goes into the filters is what doesn’t make it to your lungs. -- What we do in life will Echo through Eternity........ |

Thanks for your response, much appreciated. I have a small “microlene” which is quite good for my needs. The filter can be vacumed and reused but I was thinking of upgrading and being a Fan of Jet tools was considering the Jet 500. Can the filters be reused or cleaned with a vac? or once used have to be thrown away?? -- No one plans to fail, they just, just fail to plan |

I have a good friend that has a Jet filtration unit and really like his. I Do not know what model he had. I would buy a Jet unit when I get one. It is on my wish list. -- Mc Bridge Cabinets, Iowa |

They are all overpriced in my opinion. Just find someone tossing an old HVAC fan or one on CL and build your own. Thats all they are. A spinning squirrel cage in a box. Make it the same size so you can use the special inside filter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cyyfq-TfwE&feature=related just one example and there are many more. -- In the end, when your life flashes before your eyes, will you like what you see? |

Hi Tom – thanks for the input on the filter, Like you, I have most of my Tools on the Jet Brand. Generally I look to them first, although if there is a better unit/machine I won’t let the brand name dictate my purchase. Only Just – I take your point on them being over priced. I guess If I had the time and all the parts to hand I would build one. As it is by the time I seek and purchase all the parts the price soon tot up. I guess what I am saying is, the over pricing would seem insignificant if I was coughing my lungs up, you just can’t put a price on your health. Thanks fellahs. david -- No one plans to fail, they just, just fail to plan |
