Hey everybody, new member here. Thanks to all that sent a welcome. I’m looking for real dense hard maple , 5/4 stuff. Any one know where I can get slow growth maple ?

I’m not sure that it is necessarily the case that slower growth means a lot harder when it comes to hard maple. You might want to do a little research on that. IE it might be worth comparing the density of early and late wood on hard maple. If they are similar, then trees that grew more slowly may not be that much different than “normal” ones.

Here’s a cutting board made out of maple, purchased from Bob, and some walnut I had on hand.

It turned out real nice and my customer was very happy with it.

Thanks guys. I’m in California, and while we do have a lot of wood sellers here, north east maple is harder to get.
