The second photo looks different but that is not uncommon. I think it is either poplar or gum. Maybe both. Just my guess.

Walnut was going to be my guess. But I have my doubts. Good luck on more guesses.

years ago they made furniture and called it genuine walnut. That meant it was poplar or some other cheaper wood with a genuine walnut finish. If it said solid walnut then it was solid walnut wood.

The second photo is elm. Note the wavy bands in the latewood giving the grain a squiggly pattern.

The second picture looks like elm to me.
