I have a small wine cellar (<650 cubic feet) that was cooled by a WhisperKool 3000 until it died over the week end. I am looking for a replacement that will last more than 4 years. I looked for reviews and comparative data, but there is very little info available on the web. It seems like most get poor grades for longevity. Can anyone suggest a brand that they have used that has lasted a long time? Is there a dependable brand in this category?

Sorry, Can’t help you in the wine dept. My vinatge Bud and Coors Original (less than 90 days old) stay chilled to perfection in my Sanyo shop refrigerator, though in the 100+ heat here in OK recently I need my trusty Gott cooler with ice. Cold beer after shop time with a good puro just seems right.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a pilsner or a lager or a stout or an ale as much as the next guy although it is getting harder to afford the calories every year. :) However, my MD says I need red wine to keep my cholesterol in check. Such is life. :D

AandCstyle: No judgement from here. A nice red zinfandel or cabernet sauvignon with a big rare piece of beef is just what the Dr. didn’t order. Heaven! He bitches at me and I listen…sometimes. I need your doc. Mine gives me Lipitor for MY cholesterol. calories from beer are counted just like other food products. I cut back here and there so I can enjoy a good cold one. The beer keeps my kidneys flushed. You know how us old guys need that!
