Just got the new machine up and running. Works great in both modes. Dust collection in jointer mode is excellent, but in planer mode, the chips and dust have to be pulled up against gravity. Lots of chips out the back with the wood, and plenty out the front. Of course thinner cuts produce less.
Any one else with similar issues? Any mods to help?
May just need to keep the shop vac handy after a planing session.
Use a 5HP ClearVue cyclone, so I doubt the DC is the problem.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Gary

Gary,
Is this the 10” model? if so it’s the very same model I was considering. Most folk I spoken with have stated it’s a just to much of a bother to change over function and that I should not go the combo machine route.

What are your thoughts?

Could you post a review with pictures? I have been thinking about getting on of these.

Cool name BTW

Your clearvue will handle the job easily. Make sure you run the 6” line with a 6” gate to the machine and reduce it at the outlet. I run a 16” jointer and planer and use the 5hp clearvue. I have never had any problems with dust collection. Have fun!!!

I’ll take a few pics tomorrow if I can. So far, I really like the machine. It is the 12 inch version and very easy to convert. Much more powerful and quieter than my Dewalt 735 and 6 inch jet jointer. I will need to spend some time learning the best way to make it work for me, but so far, I am impressed. It is great not having to take up so much space, and I doubt I would have ever purchased a 12 inch jointer.
Do a google search for this machine, there are several very good reviews and even demonstration videos on the web. Very accurate from what I have seen so far.

I posted some pics and reviews of the machine in both modes in the reviews section. My biggest problem ( and original reason for post ) was the dust collection in planer mode. Some input from other users easily fixed the problem, and now I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Almost everything in life involves compromise of some sort, this machine fits the bill for me.
