Bob A nice article. I use some of it. I wish he has stated how to clean a ceramic stone. Soap and water doesn’t do it.

Karson, di you try and overnight soak in Coke? It conatians carbonic acid as to otehr soft dirnks and will eat up iron if present. Some of the blended steels could be more resisitant. Ther used to be a product called Navel Jelly that removed rust.

If just the surfaces have become loaded try some Comet or Bon Ami on a 3M pad.
Flour of pumice is also a good fine abrasive.

Can I ask why you are using ceramic stones?

I pick up a mid grit and a find grit in one of my forays into sharpening. I don’t use them much. I now use my sharpening station that I built.

My sharpening station

I was just wanting to clean them off.

Bob I also use this Diamond FIlm on marble tiles and the strips.
