Martin,

Is there a way to give users the option of uploading one to three photos for their blog entries in the same way as the projects.

In my opinion the projects should be used for finished projects rather than progress pics, which I believe was the original intent. I think that easy photo upload would facilitate progress blogs.

The disc space/ bandwidth is being eaten by photos being stored on project pages anyway. Isn’t it?

Thanks for all you do,

John

I have to agree. Projects should be for finished work, not progress reports.

I agree with what you are saying about keeping projects for finished projects. But I think its more a matter of educating new members as to the differences between blogs, projects, etc. It is easy to post photos in blogs, it is just a matter of subscribing to a free photo hosting site like flickr, etc.

Its one thing for LJ to host project photos, but imagine the bandwidth it would require to store all the photos in blogs!!! Just check out this single blog as an example… Lumberjocks is Going to the Dogs

Maybe one solution would be the ability to change the type of post within 24 hours (from a project to blog or forum, etc.) I’m sure Jocks would politely suggest to newer members that they try changing the post type if it is not appropriate. It would still be up to the poster.

I dunno, if we make it really easy for people to upload tons of pics on the blog entry pages, that would create additional demand on the LJ servers, increased costs, etc.

Instead, I’d recommend advocating the use of sites like Flickr and Photobucket for progress pages, and the use of the LJ photo upload tool for the project page.
