I visit the occasional garage/estate/yard sale on weekends and this past weekend I stumbled onto a few nice items. Grabbed a MF 22 plane, a Victor 1105, a honing guide, dovetail markers, scraper plane and this; a Hardy’s Patent plane. Thought you folks might enjoy seeing one.

It still needs to be cleaned up, but there are no cracks, chips or other defects.

Interesting. Any date on it? Perhaps from one of the wars where material was scarce?

Thanks for sharing.

Its from (approximately) 1882. Here’s a link to what Patrick Leach has to say about it.

Ya don’t have to read too far into Patrick’s discourse to figger out what he REALLY thinks.
Don’t know if you’re gonna try using the plane, but I sure would have bought it, refurbed, built a shadow box for it. Then, posted Patrick’s evaluation in a frame next to the plane.

Quite unusual. I have seen one.
