Topic tags/keywords: grizzly model g1018hw 8-inch jointer

I am considering buying a larger jointer than my 6”. A Model G1018HW 8-inch jointer is available. I’d like to hear opinions about this jointer’s age, usability and quality and whether $450. is a reasonable price for it.

Many thanks,

Could be roughly 10 years old (give or take), and was out about the same time as the G1182, which was the 6” model that came from the same factory in Taiwan. Both well regarded. $450 is reasonable IMO if it’s in good shape. New 8” jointers start in the $900 range.

$450 is indeed a reasonable price for a used long-bed jointer
with an 8” cutterhead and center-mount fence. I have
seen them go for a lot less, but I live in a very large city
with ample supply of used machinery.

Jointers are very simple machines. There is some junk at
the bottom of the market, but all the cast iron 8” machines
on the market will do the job they are meant to do.

Have your say...
