I ocasionally come accross some interesting architectural websites and today I found one that almost made me cry. Check out this page:

http://www.abandonedbutnotforgotten.com/ABNF/delaware_power_station.htm

About the 10th picture down is one of those OMG why is this thing not being used by someone (what a beauty this band saw must have been)!! If anyone out there lives in delaware and wants a fixer-uper project….

That IS huge – basically a giant scrollsaw, in that cuts so deep.

That’s one of the 30”+ band saws! Like Yates-American or one of those; bet if you remove the rust and with a little TLC it would run like a champ! It would be easy to get blades made for it; any number of MFG’s make them to order

Another example of abandoning the aged just when they are starting to develop character.

Dereck,
The woodworking school at Settle Central Community College, where I attended school has to big ones like that. One the frame moves around the table and the other does not move. Massive band saws.
Checkout the video http://www.woodconstruction.org I took the Cabinetmaking and Fine Woodworking Program, defietly wood shops on steroids.

I think one of the Lumberjocks has a saw similar to that one in his shop. Can’t remember who it was.
