I just came back from lowes, I scored an 8” cmt dado set from $89+change for $53…. If your local lowes doesn’t have it advertised, they will do the price match thing. I saw it advertised at that price at the Sioux Falls lowes (per a hint from another forum).

It’s on sale until 7/7 I think…..

None in my area :( I went to Lowes during lunch and all I could see was the Irwin Dado set for $99.98

Is someone willing to grab an extra set and ship?

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I jumped on your advice, but not all Lowe’s still have them and not all Lowe’s even have them on clearance. Be aware though that Lowe’s will match prices. I found a number of the stores are selling these on clearance for $32.39, if you can find a Lowe’s that still have these blades, they will match that price. It may pay to call around. I just got mine for $29.07.

i started buying them when they went on clearance for $72. next time i went they had them marked down to $54. so i bought one and returned it with the older higher priced receipt. then a week later i saw it was marked down to $32. so i bought another one and returned it with the $52 receipt. so i was able to eventually get one for $32.

I haven’t used it, but I’ve heard very mixed reviews. A lot of people say the chippers NOT consistent at all and they have to mix and match the ones that cut flat vs the ones that do not.

I’m pretty sure you will not be able to buy anything brand new for 40$ that even comes close though

I bought 2 sets at $12.60 each on Monday. Haven’t had the time to use them yet though.

$12.60 – You’ve got bragging rights. I’m feeling cheated.

I tested mine out and just stacked all but 1 of the chippers. Either i got lucky and didn’t pick the shy one or i got a really nice dado set. I tested it in ply wood and got a really smooth cut with the usual bat ears.

I’ve tried a test cut with them. The comparison was to a new SD 508, and an old SD508 that had been recently sharpened. Take a look, the CMT set showed only marginal more tearout, and this is on a very splinter prone piece of ply.
