I have a newly acquired Jet JTAS-10XL table saw that I would like to build a workstation ‘island’ around. My plan is to also add a router station and, perhaps, a few other tools into the design. My hope is that someone can point me in the direction of some nice, functional designs that I can learn from. I’d like to keep the whole project around 6’x8’ (not hard numbers) since I’m working with a rather narrow shop space. I’ve seen a few designs using contractor-style saws, but not much with a cabinet. Any thoughts? Thanks!

You will probably get an after market fence, like a Biesemeyer or Exacta. That will require a 4 foot extension on the right. Adding a 3 foot outfeed table will fill your available space. The router station will go in the right hand extension and will take advantage of the saw’s fence.

I forgot to mention that I already have a complete B-fence system. Like you suggested, I’m looking to place the router into the right hand extension (if it had one). Is there a router-ready wing that I should pay attention to? I’m thinking I’ll stretch the outfeed table at least 4.5’ past the blade so 8’ sheets will not want to topple off the table. I’m actually thinking about using this area for assembly on projects not involving the saw.

Have your say...
