I was extremely happy today to get an email from ShopNotes announcing the sale of a DVD loaded with the last twenty years issues. When the Woodsmith disk came out earlier this year I commented that all we need is ShopNotes and voila it’s happened. I’m not implying that my remark made this happen lol, I’m just vey happy that it has. For those of us that got the Woodsmith disk there is a $20 discount making it $79 for the DVD. Of course I ordered it. Can’t wait for it to arrive. If you didn’t get the email as I did just go the the ShopNotes site to place an order. Happy reading! -- • "I have noticed that nothing I have never said ever did me any harm."....... Calvin Coolidge |

Hi Ken, I also got that email and price. I didn’t jump right on it because I’m new here and to Shopnotes and Woodsmith. I bought the Woodsmith DVDfor the $99 and it is great to have ! My concern was about too much duplication of the same articles, is this a need for worry? I really don’t know the magazines well enough to know! thanks, Tommy |

Tommy In my opinion no. While they are both published by the same company they are really complimentary not duplication. I’ve been reading both since they started. Have to say they are the top of my list of must have. I understand your concern. There are so many mags out there it’s hard to choose. Like the difference between a Chevy and a Ford. Lots of people like them but not the same ones. ShopNotes is just that. Lots of shop projects, jigs, etc. 20 years of mags is a hell of a collection and just made a lot of space on my book shelf, because I will donate all of mine. Good luck in your decision. There is another thread from some time back where other jocks listed their favorite mags and why. Maybe if you read that it will give you more opinions to make your choice. -- • "I have noticed that nothing I have never said ever did me any harm."....... Calvin Coolidge |

Ken, Congrats on your buy. I always enjoy seeing someone completely pleased with a purchase like that! -- Beer, Beer, Thank God for Beer. It's my way of keeping my mind fresh and clear... |

Your first paragraph is what I needed to hear. I’d wanted to subscribe for years – but the price has been a bit steep for me – I’m rather frugal, some would say cheap! 20 years @ $79 is $4 a year, I can open the fruit jar for that. thanks, T |

Guess it was very easy for me since I already have the hard copies and know the content. I’ve been downsizing 45 years of “stuff” and always looking for a way to clear some shelves. Same time it gives me the opportunity to donate what I don’t need anymore to a group of newbie woodworkers that will learn an awful lot from the collection. Love the fruit jar comment, I’ve got one of those too and don’t open it unless it benefits us. Being retired keeps us all aware of choices that we make. Anyway hope you enjoy them as much as I do -- • "I have noticed that nothing I have never said ever did me any harm."....... Calvin Coolidge |

Thanks Milo, I guess I did sound happy and enthusiastic and I am. a1Jim, Wasn’t sure I should post. I know I’m not the only one who gets those emails. Thanks for letting me know it was OK. -- • "I have noticed that nothing I have never said ever did me any harm."....... Calvin Coolidge |
