Has anyone ever used grapefruit to build anything?(boxes etc) I have a log about 4 ft long drying and wonder if it’s worth fooling with.

I have half a grapefruit every morning with breakfast…
... I would not want to attempt to make any boxes with them.

I have worked with other fruit trees and it is always kind of fun. The grain varies from impressive to pretty straightforward, but IMO the “boring” wood is pretty in its own right due to being unusually simple.

Never worked with grapefruit, but if I had a 4’ log of it hanging out I’d let it dry and make something.

Thanks TY for the reply. I’m thinking a jewelry box. If it doesn’t work I can always use it in the smoker.

Joe: I like grapefruit with a little…vodka in it but I don’t think that will work in woodworking.

I’d do it just to say I did it. Maybe not some intricate custom or comissioned piece on a a deadline, but I’d make something out of it.
