The HF coupon

I've heard tales that HF has a 20% off on one item coupon out there. I've never seen one myself, but I googled it and found one online I can print out.

Is that a no no? Will they take it or scold me for how I got the coupon?

You're good to go Russell. I use the printed coupon from online all the time. Some stores are strange about the coupon though. The store near me wont let me use it for items already on sale. You'll see posts here from some folks who are able to use the coupon at Lowes. The Lowes employees in the store near me always give me that "dont even think about it" look.

Many wood working magazines, i.e. Popular Woodworking & Wood, and other magazines like DIY and Popular Mechanics have Harbor Freight ads that always have a 20% off coupon; along with very good sales prices on selected items. I use these all the time and these are the ones I have been able to combine with other sales. I have a couple of HF stores within a one hour drive and have been able to combine coupon and sales price at both.

Never been able to use a HF coupon at HD or Lowes though.

Sign up for HF email notices and you will get all kinds of special offers, including 20% and even 25% off coupons in your email.`

If they didn't accept printed coupons, then I doubt they would have a "print this coupon" button on them! I have had them not print clear enough so they would not scan in though.. so the cashier has to punch the coupon code in manually, but they still accept them without any question.

The only reason I could think of for them not accepting one is that perhaps it is from a bogus source and not one of their own official coupons found online.

Cheers,
Brad

If you don't want to spend the time to print them off, just pick them up on the way in the door. Flyers, with coupons are right there. Some are even at the check-out lines. And, they will ask you IF you have any, if not, they will point out where they are.

Ouch.. our local store doesn't have them near the door or anywhere else for that matter! About all they have is the current sales flyer which doesn't contain any coupons at all, just 'on sale' items. I was there with a neighbor the other day and he forgot to bring in his 20% off coupon. He asked the cashier if they had any available and she told him he was SOL. Fortunately, I always keep one or two in my wallet 'just in case' :)

As a side note, I've been having trouble getting the flyers in the mail. Found out a few months ago that the wife has been throwing them in the trash as soon as they show up to keep me from being tempted!

Cheers,
Brad

My local HF doesn't have the coupons when you walk in either but I get a new coupon every week practically in with the so called junk mail. I just got another 20% coupon today, I just have to remember to put them in my car otherwise I find myself stopping in HF and then realizing no coupon. Oh and some other stores have given me problems with printed coupons, like HD the manager pointed to a sign that said no printed coupons. There not my closest HD though, I only reason I went to this one was to buy the Ridgid R4512 because they were the only one around that had it.

Not to say this is a superbly ethical thing, but woodworking magazines often have a page in the back with HF coupons including a 20% and a free item. I did it only once but I was in a jam and got a coupon from a magazine at barnes and noble…i didn't buy the magazine
