I have a JET bench top mortising machine model JBM-5 that has a 1/2” chisel as it’s largest chisel. I have been looking for a 3/4” chisel that would fit my machine, the only one I have found that is available is made by CMT (part #543.190.51). Has anyone used one in this model machine? CMT technical support was no help, they just referred me to the spec. sheet and left it at that.

Did you read the Amazon review? It seems it won’t fit a machine
that takes less than a 3/4” shank.

If you decide to try it out let me know. I too have been looking for a larger one for my jet to make cutting the mortises easier for my workbench build

The JET JBM-5 uses either a 5/8” or a 3/4” shank, but the review on Amazon stated it did not work on the JET machine??

Looks like you’ll have to order one and see if it fits. You can
return it if it doesn’t.

Lee Valley offers a 3/4” bit. I think the shank is also 3/4”.

Have your say...
