This may be a dumb question…but the dust port on the back of my Dewalt miter saw is oval (1.5×1 inch)...that would appear to me to be a difficult fit to pretty much anything related to dust collection, which I am trying to work on. Any thoughts/advice regarding this?

See how it mounts on the saw and maybe you can put another port on it, and just throw that one away. woodworking lumber stores usually have some to choose from.

That black foam pipe insulation make good adapters for these as it will shape around your oval fitting.

I bought an extra dust bag (Dewalt part no 147734-06), removed the cloth portion of it, and put a shop vac hose over the dust collection bag adapter. If I recall correctly, it was an almost exact fit and required very little modification. The part, minus shipping was $17.50 if I recall correctly and can be ordered through Dewalt’s ServiceNET or through Toolpartsdirect.com

Just thought I’d let you know that I had the same issue. I have a Dewalt DW718 that has an oval duct outlet. I found the adapter at eReplacementParts.com

Part # 618240-00 $1.23

Hope this helps..
