This is a spin off of Toyguys topic.

When my Son, & I picked up the lumber for the deck we built.

We were about to load it in my van.

I had built a rack, so I could safely haul a part of the load at one time.

The 12 foot boards would stick out about 2 feet.

Just as I opened up my van , a young man came over, & said “are you going to haul that in your van”?

I told him I was going to make a couple of trips, & he said, “wait a minute,

I’ll run home, & get my pickup, & I’ll haul it for you”.

We waited about 5 minutes, & he drove up in his brand new pickup.

He & his mother even helped us load it.

When we were leaving Lowes, I told Steve to get his license number, because this was too good to be true.

After we unloaded, I had to practically fight with him to give him $20.

So “good things” can also happen at a Lowes store.*

And nobody took off their clothes and tried to take your wallet? :-)

The vast majority of people are really great. It’s a relatively few bad apples who give the rest of us humans a bad reputation.

Wow Dick. When I read the title of your post, I said to myself, “self, I bet somone helped him load his wood in his truck or something.” I had that happen to me one time at one of the bigboxes but I was parked in the handicapped spot and walking with a cane. I thought that was pretty awesome at the time. I guess they have succesfully managed my expectations…

There are a lot of good people up here on ”Da Range” in northern Minnesota.

About fighting with the guy that helped me,

I would have lost, he was about 6’ 4”, & weighed in about 240.<;O)

I agree with Don that this kid was raised right. Where I live good people are hard to find. I’m so glad someone did this for you and it was so good to hear about it so thanks for telling us.

I owe Lowes for retaining my sanity. Recently we went to Hawaii & the wife dragged me to one of those manufacturers shopping outlets. If it was not for a browse through Lowes I would have had a very dismal day. Even picked up a tool or two.

It’s sad to realize that when someone offers to help these days that we wonder why. Like you said you wrote his plate number down, I;d have done the same. We keep telling our son what life was like when we were young and trusted more. I truely do miss those days.

Just remember to do something nice to someone in return.

The secret Santa has cancer so finally revealed himself. The first thing he did when he had money is payback. He had lost everything but went into a diner and got some dinner. He could not pay, the cook/owner figured it out and picked up a 20 off the floor and said here you must have dropped this.

Years later he opened the door and there was the man, who asked if he remembered giving him the 20, he said yes, “Santa” then asked what the guy thought the years of interest might be, he said about 10,000 probably, jokingly. “Santa” handed him an envelope with $10,000 in it. He never forgot.

You get back more than you give. In help, or advice. Politics, religion, social status aside, do something nice just because.

That reminds me of a movie I’ve seen, I think it was called “Pay it Forward”.

Or that was the theme of the movie. People would do something nice, & in order to pay for it,

they had to do something nice to someone else.
