I got this hunk of maple, along with (3) 10’ sections of the 36”- 42” trunk, from where it fell over in a guys front yard. He said he had no idea how to chop it into firewood. Guess I saved him some work! For reference, I’m 6’4…

In case you’re wondering, all of the turners on the forum hate you now.

Nice save. Be a shame to see that in a fire place.

Burl and crotch, nice haul. The guy I get my walnut from has some sections that size and I can’t wait for him to cut and dry some.

A magnificent Burl indeed!!

One slab of that Burl would make a beautiful Cameo on the headbaord of a Kingsized bed.

I’m certain that by the time it dries and cures, it will speak to you of what it should become.

Ain’t that thing a honker? Laughed at turning a bathtub, thanx for that TopomaxSurvivor. I have a bandsaw that has a 72” capacity, I’ve cut 59” so far but this’n will beat that for sure. We’ll be slicing it up soon, I’ll certainly throw a pic or two up so you can see what’s in there. Kinda like Christmas, isn’t it? Thanx for the kind words all, talk backatcha soon.

It’s a fine hunk of wood that you have there and no doubt will make some beautiful projects.
