Hey everyone, I just ordered a bandsaw from grizzly about an hour ago. The new 0555lx I believe is the model? I know this isn’t the greatest bandsaw and honestly I don’t think I need the best bandsaw. If no for this saw being on sale and me having a few extra dollars to spend I wouldn’t have bought it so please I appreciate everyone’s advice, opinions and criticism but please don’t tell me I should’ve bought a more expensive saw because it honestly wasn’t in the budget and wouldn’t have been for a long long while. Buying this bandsaw was a spur of the moment decision and I’ve never really read articles or watched videos on bandsaws because I just didn’t think I’d ever buy one. Now that I have I’m not sure what blade to get. I ordered a 1/2” 3tpi Olson blade because of very good reviews but I may cancel it because from what I understand I want either skip or hook tooth blade? Well the Olson is raker, im not asking what brand to buy but just if I should cancel the order and find a 1/2” 3tpi hook or skip tooth blade. I plan on doing some resawing, veneering and curve cutting. I know you need a smaller blade for curve cutting. I’m not completely uneducated about the bandsaw just not very sure about the blades. Thanks everyone

Iggles88, I would recommend looking at the woodslicer blades. Here is the site for these. These are renown for their resaw abilities. You might want to look at getting riser blocks and a resaw fence for your saw as well. These can be found at the grizzly site you ordered from. I wouldn’t sell the saw you just purchased short. It generally gets good reviews and is considered a great saw for the price.

David, Thank you for that website, I’m definitely going to look into the riser block soon but for right now 6” will be plenty of resaw as my jointer is only 6” anyway. I have heard good things about the saw too but this is a newer model and I know a lot of times with newer models there are usually some problems until they’re pointed out by customers and fixed. I hope that’s not the case here and that everything will be ok. Im more looking for advice on the skip raked or hook tooth blade difference and what to look for. Thanks you put my mind at ease a bit about the saw

Wooslicer for resaw for sure, then Timberwolf for other blades.
I keep a 1/4” 6tpi for general use on my BS.
