I have been reading allot about benches. So I started mine fianlly. I was planning a roubo type with Benchcrafed components. Now I know their components have become very popular with the wood whisperer community using them. Now that mark finished his bench build Benchcrafted took thier components back to the drawing board. At the hieght of popularity they choose to stop production for 12 weeks and redesign.
I was planing on buying thier products as I needed them when I started my build. First I discovered it was a 4 week wait. Now it’s a twelve week wait and a pending price increase. I pretty much have come to the conclusion that that’s not the place I’ll be buying from now. Luckily I found out about thier shortage and lack of supply before I cut my bench to match thier templates.
Since I now have no way to know if they will meet their deadline or not I think it’s wise for me to consider other options.
I think i’ll go big wood screw for the front vice. Lake erie is the one i like.
Any other ideas similar to bench crafted for the end vice?
