Got my first set of chisels from Highland. A modest 4 piece Narex kit.
Got my first set of oil stones and leather strop from sharpeningsupplies.com
I spent a few hours the other day flattening the oil stones on a cinder block. It’s a pain; just ask my shoulder…
I spent a few hours flattening the backs of the chisels on today and tried the Paul Sellers convex bevel method. It’s the first technique I tried since it seemed to require the least setting up, preparation, or skill. After I spent a deliberate 20 minutes trying out the technique, I was able to shave hairs off my arm, cut a sheet of paper, etc.
Got my first paper thin shavings ever.
Now to get back to woodworking!
