Hey all,

I’m seriously considering buying this:

http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=31288

It is a Stanley Duplex Bullnose Rabbet Plane with fence. I am figuring on using it like a shoulder plan to clean tenons and rabbets mostly. Been trying to find a decent large shoulder plane but most are way out of my budget and I don’t want to waste time fiddling with the chinese junk on ebay. I’d appreciate if anybody has used this plane and would share their thoughts.

Thanks,

jd

JD,

This isn’t the best plane for fine woodworking. A shoulder plane will really help you more, but like you said, they are a bit more expensive. That said, I’m not sure you’ll really be satisfied with this one. If you take the $50 and put it towards an $80 or $90 used Stanley shoulder plane, I think you’ll be much happier.

Thanks for the input Brandon, I’ll keep watching Craigslist.
