Topic tags/keywords: beech oak walnut plane

has arrived. I kept the hutch from the old desk, and gave the old base to a grandson. The “New” base? is made from some old Barn Wood I had in the shop. Most of which USED to be rafters. Resawn down to 3/4 stuff. A glue-up of five boards gave me a top for the desk:

Ugly, ain’t they? They clean up rather nicely, all it takes is a couple hand-powered planes

Add some bread boards to the ends

Now, a top is alright, but i need a frame to set it on. For that, I needed to make some legs

Look almost as ugly as my own two legs. Ok, got the legs, need to make a frame to hold the legs in one spot, else they might walk away. Just some simple aprons, and some lower stretchers to keep the legs straight.

The BOSS wanted two drawers, so i made two for the front. simple dovetails in the front, a dado to join the backs, and a test fit

With both drawers done, time to load it up into the Caravan, and take it home..

Going to let it sit awhile, just to get it used to sitting in a house, instead of a pole barn. As for the drawer knobs? just some walnut that was sitting around the shop, bandsawn to a rough shape, and sanded smooth

Just some “free” lumber….
