Topic tags/keywords: record vise

I’d been looking for an under-bench-mounted vise for a long while. Last week, a CL posting caught my eye. A man was selling two Record vises, models 52D and 52ED. I went to look at them and bought both for a total of $90.

As far as I can tell, the two models are the same except for the location of the “MADE IN ENGLAND” stamp on the front.

The vises are in perfect working condition. The dogs and the thumbscrews that lock the dogs are there. The quick releases work fine.

Here are some photos of how they look right now before I do any cleanup.

A very nice set you have there. I am jealous, and happy for you.

I have the ED model as well, and I think there was something different from the D, but without going to the shop to check, I don’t remember!

Seems to me the ED is the newer version.

Great score…I have a few of various sizes lying around, cannot seem to leave them alone at auction sales. Similar vice maybe…
