Topic tags/keywords: tool gloat shop bandsaw craftsman

I just wanted to post a picture of a little Craftsman bandsaw that I picked up off Craigslist this weekend.

I know it’s not that exciting of a machine, but it is in excellent condition and he was only asking $45 for it. It came with the manual and a spare blade still in the package, so I didn’t feel like haggling with him; I thought it was a fair price. And besides, you can’t even buy a new 1/3 HP motor for $45.

My plan is to eventually build a 16” wooden bandsaw from Matthias Wandel's plans that will allow me to do some resawing and larger work. In the meantime, this will really expand my capabilities for cutting small curved pieces that I couldn’t do with the jigsaw.

Now get some good blades and get to work.
Chances are that the blades ya have aren’t top quality. I use Timber Wolf with good results.

Don’t forget to loosen the blade tension when you’re not cutting!

I’m sure you will find this a very useful tool to have around the shop, and well worth the small price tag.
