Hi all, I need some input on Festool, Fein, Rigid, shop vacs.
I have a Festool 5” ROS, hooked to my dust collector it dosen’t work, I have a 25 year old shop vac that works but sounds like an F-16 and have to shake the filter clean qute often.
I have been sorting through different brands/models and need something quieter.
Festool mini
Fein 1 3/4 hp
Rigid?
I am getting confused (which is not hard to do with Me) about the bags, filters and cost of and life of them.
Any input or experiences would be apreciated.
Thanks

I know what you mean when you describe your vac like an F16. I have a 5hp Craftsman that sounds the same.
Right now I hook my sander and vac onto a special plug that turn on the vac a couple of seconds after I turn on the sander and turns it off a few seconds after I turn off the sander. This works well for me. If you haven’t seen these plugs they are available at Sears tool section for about $30.00. I have seen the same model with a different name at Home Depot. I have also considered building a box to contain and tame the vac.
I would really prefer a smaller vac with this feature built in that I could just use with the sander but right now I feel they are too expensive. I’ve been hoping that Rigid or another budget brand would introduce one.
I definitely recommend this feature,

Mark,

I have the Festool Rotex 150 6” sander I recommend the Festool vac/extractor. I have not seen another as efficient as it is. I posted a review on it; hope this helps….

The CV06 at this site may be of interest. It is on sale this month. I don’t know how loud it is though.

Thanks, People, that CV06 looks nice but a little pricy being you have to also buy a Vac, maybe I’ll PRY some $$ out for the Festool, OUCH!

Please, I don’t like to be the nagging person, but do not forget your hearing protection. Especially when using the ones that sound like an F16. That sound is permanently damaging your hearing. This does mean forever!! I am the voice of experience on this one.

Whats that you say I can’t hear you.
Just kidding, the noise I don’t want bothering next door. I worked on Airliners I learned from that.
Thanks
