Topic tags/keywords: question disston 10 backsaw refurbishing traditional

A friend gave me this Disston backsaw today and I was wondering if someone could give me some ideas/suggestions on cleaning it up. I did some research on it at—http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/backsawpage.html—and all I can really tell is that it is OLD! It has CAST STEEL and the HE of Henry and whatever and then WARRANTED on the spine of the saw. It also has the initials BPS stamped in the handle just above the Disston medallion. From what I can tell, the blade/teeth look good. Check out the pics….thanks…......J

Don W—Thanks a LOT for the above link. With that blog, I was able to date the saw I have to being manufactured between 1896—1917. That is a great link and helped me a lot. Now I just gotta keep reading it to figure out how best to clean it up.
