So, it’s the wife’s birthday. She’s at the mall, Coldwater Creek woman’s store, looking at clothes. I’m standing in front of this 8 ft tall and 3 ft wide 4” thick slab of some kind of wood. I actually see it with an aura around it. The rest of the store is diminished in it’s presence even if the clothes are sherbert ice cream colored. Don’t know for sure what it is but it’s upright, naturally shaped, not cut, with some bark on one edge. polished and varnished and running from top right corner to left bottom corner is a wide swath of beautifully convoluted burl. It was being used as a backdrop for some clothes. I wish I had had a camera… what a shame to use it as a mall store prop. Ah well. I’ll bet you it goes into a dumpster during the next seasonal remodel….. sigh….. -- The smell of wood, coffee in the cup, the wife let's me do my thing, the lake is peaceful. |
