Topic tags/keywords: resource tip question bandsaw

Harbor Freight is reducing the number of woodworking tools they carry. At first I thought it was just me, or maybe since I have not shopped at HF till the last two years.

Case in point, the 14” four speed bandsaw. I’ve read very good reviews on this machine. Really thought I might get one one of these days. They don’t have it any more.

They have cut back considerably in my view.

The only one (14” BS) they showed in our local store was a piece of crap.

If you rule out “cheep made china junk” you rule out any thing new.

I don’t know of one single brand of bandsaw on the market today that is not imported.

Of course, the best stuff is all old heavy iron, but that takes time to find and time and money to refurbish.
But I wasn’t wanting to get into what’s good or bad about HF, just that they seem to be moving away from woodworking.

I went to HF one time. I would not even buy a bottle of coke from that place. Nothing but junk

I don’t know about the band saws, but the inventory changes. They use different suppliers the way Craftsman does. You’ll find good ones and bad ones all with the same brand name. If you can, wait ‘til you see one that you like. They do sell some tools that are pretty good, you just have to be patient and careful, because most of it is crap.
