I’m kinda excited about this one. I picked it up newly listed on eBay for $85 + shipping. That’s more than I usually pay for an old plane, but everything I’ve read suggests Bedrock 607 jointers of this era are valuable both as users and as collectors items. According to Bob Kaune's Bedrock type study, this would appear to be a type 11, manufactured around 1942.

Other than the usual dirt and grime, all the parts, including the bed and mouth seem tp be in pristine condition. This thing should shine up like a new penny. I’ll post photos, of course, when I’m done.

you scored Charlie. I’ve been on the hunt for a 607 or 608. It looks like you found yourself a good one.

Nice looking plane, and at a great price too! Was it a buy it now?

Shane: Yeah, at least once a day I do a search for “buy it now” “newly listed” planes. It’s about the only way to get a bargain on eBay any more. Usually the buy it now prices are way too high, but now and then you get someone who undervalues an item.

Sweet, I have nabbed a couple that way myself. You beat me to this one. I have been looking for a 607 to round out the collection. I would have been on that like white on rice!

I got my #607 for $70 thru a online classified listing, and the seller received several calls from busybodies (from other provinces far away) who found it necessary to tell him that the $35 he was asking was not enough. I had his phone number, and did not realize that he’d already pulled the ad. I went to look at it anyway, and ended up with not only the Bedrock, but a pristeen, in box #96 marking gauge, a nice #4, some socket chisels, and a really good set of #45 cutters that he had no idea what they were for. The whole lot including plane, was $90. Anxious to see some ‘after’ photos, Charlie!
