Starting to wake up with ribs hurting, stiff neck and my mattress is starting to come apart so I figured its time for a new one. A while back I stayed at a Marriott that has some type of foam bed (I think) and wow was that thing comfortable.

Did a little research and then went to look at the tempurpedic beds, wow the price. Anyways, I am in my late 30’s, 6’4” and close to 300lbs. Anyone got a Tempurpedic bed, think it will hold up to me over time? Was it worth what you laid out, I dont mind spending the money but if it only turns out as good as a bed half the price then I will be upset.

Planning on making my own bed for the mattress btw out of white ash.

I’m close to your weight, have arthritis in every joint in my body, have been hit by cars three times (motorcycles don’t stand a chance) and without my Tempurpedic, I would have been dead eight years ago. I would have killed myself as sleep was not possible. No amount of drugs helped. The mattress and surgery saved my life. I still hurt like the devil, but the mattress REALLY helps.

When I lie down at night, it seems as if the mattress just opens up and envelops me. I settle in and sleep about four to five hours at a time, shift around and go back to sleep. I have sleep apnea and use a bi-pap with oxygen generator (only one lung—the last car hit) and really do like it. High priced? Yes, and as their patent has expired there are imitators out there. Stay away unless you can try it free for 30 days as Tempurpedic allows and they give the same guarantee Tempurpedic does. Haven’t found one like that yet. Price doesn’t matter much if the product does its’ job and the warranty is in writting with no ambiguities.

Tempurpedic will be choice once again if this one dies. Service is excellent product is worth it if it helps you. Price is not an object when sleep is at risk. Just take a pass on their high tech pillows unless able to test them and choose what works for you. aLSO, AS YOU ARE GOING TO BUILD THE BED, built the mattress supports yourself instead of paying out the patushka for their foundation boxes. They sell upholstered plywood cubes designed to set the bed height and relieve you of several hundred dollars for no benefit.

The mattresses are a good product, too pricey, but worth it in the end because one’s health is dependant ultimately on the quality of sleep one gets. Get it with the guarantee and you will never regret it. The goofey pillows they sell will be either perfect or a torture device; your choice. I couldnt use them; now use an old feather pillow.

Stay comfy and let me know hou you do.
