I keep receiving emails from various retailers informing me that it’s National Woodworking Month. Hooray! I’m pretty sure it’s just something invented by these retailers as an excuse to push more product, but thought I’d ask you all how this affects you. Tongue-in-cheek, of course.

We DO need a month, to educate the non woodworking world that we are here, we are important, and that its not nice to ask us how much our stuff cost to make or how long it took, or how come we dont sell our stuff to make up for the cost of our tools! I mean, common, how much did you make playing golf or whatever your hobby is?

LOL, good point, Mauricio. Still, I doubt a National Woodworking Month promoted by the stores will advance a broader understanding of this hobby. :-)

Brandon, this is a great topic, could have been posted under Skill Share too!

Mauricio, I cleared $427,000 at golf last year… right.

I would never be able to recover the amount I have sunk into tools by selling my projects, as I often work for family or friends to help them out, and we all know how that pays.

I do it to buy new tools and enjoy the “sport”!

Every month is Happy Woodworking Month for me…

Ha Ha, I was going for a different angle, like our own month like Black History, Hispanic Haritage, and Gay Lesbian History Month.

I didn’t think white guys were allowed to have a month.

Randy must be a good golfer! And I agree every month should be woodworking month…maybe one month per tool?
